Mark Robins watched Danny Carr claim his first  Huddersfield Town goal to earn a 1-1 friendly draw at York and smiled: “It's been another great work-out.”

Former Dulwich Hamlet man Carr scored with seven minutes to go, cancelling out Wes Fletcher’s early opener in front of a 1,839 crowd, including 415 Town fans.

“We’re not there yet. There’s still a bit of tiredness in the legs, but given our training schedule, that’s only to be expected,” said Robins.

“The point of pre-season is to be as fit as you can be for the first league game and those that follow, and I’m pleased with the two games we’ve ad so far. We were a little bit pedestrian in the first half, and we picked the ball up from the goalkeeper too deep, but we were managing to keep possession and get in crosses. We just couldn’t hit the target.

“In the end our persistence paid off and we got a really good goal from Danny Carr which I’m delighted with. He found some space, and it was a really good finish.”

While skipper Peter Clarke made his first appearance of pre-season as a 75th-minute substitute, Robins was forced to replace Joel Lynch midway through the first half because of a tight hamstring.

And he confirmed striker Jon Stead (groin) and full-back Calum Woods (collar bone) face another three weeks out.
