Drakes League clubs are hoping for better luck with the weather on Bank Holiday Monday following a complete wash-out of Saturday’s fixtures.

Not a ball was bowled in the Drakes League Premiership, Jedi Sports Championship or Cedar Court Conference at first XI level.

And yesterday’s scheduled Joe Lumb Cup opener between Huddersfield Under 18s and East Yorkshire at Shepley’s Marsh Lane ground was also called off because of waterlogging.

In the league, it means everyone picked up two points going into the full programme of Bank Holiday fixtures, leaving Scholes and Shepley – who were due to play each other at Marsh Lane – level on 28 points at the head of the standings, just a point clear of Honley and four ahead of Hoylandswaine.

The plum fixture on the Bank Holiday list, however, is in the Championship, where leaders Marsden host second-placed Cawthorne at Hemplow.
