Michael ‘Dutch’ Harris, Josh Ruddiman and Aaron Cassidy of the Elland-based HDR Cycle Team all entered the Huddersfield Star Wheelers Evening Road Race on the challenging Crow Edge Circuit.
Among a very strong field of riders and in blustery conditions, Harris made a break on the third of six laps with teammate Ruddiman chasing down the breakaways from the bunch.
This assisted Harris in building a two-minute gap over the chasing peleton.
That difference was threatened, however, by a strong chase from another local rider, Matt Kellett of 3RT, but the gap was maintained and Harris crossed the line to take the win, two minutes ahead of the bunch sprint.
Harris has now accumulated enough points to qualify for his Second Category licence and join Ruddiman, with the goal of becoming an elite rider one step nearer.
