Gladiators Boxing Academy members will be trading boxing gloves for hiking boots on Saturday as they attempt the 10-peak Challenge.

They will be scaling some of the country’s biggest mountains, including Scaffell Pike.

The boxers took on Yorkshire’s Three Peaks last year and are taking it a step further, with a target of completing the challenge in 14 hours.

The 10-peak Challenge is in the Lake district, featuring some of the most rugged and dramatic terrain in Great Britain, with a total ascent of 8000ft.

Gladiators are taking on the challenge to raise funds for the voluntary club, which will go towards purchasing much-needed gym equipment.

Den Doyle, chairman of the Linthwaite-based club, said: “Being a voluntary club, we rely on funding and donations to allow us to continue to provide this community with opportunities in boxing.

“The 10-peak Challenge is a great way to raise funds, whilst also giving our boxers the chance to see some great scenery they may not otherwise have been able to see.

“If anyone can help the club in any way it would be greatly appreciated.”
