Huddersfield club Brothers Pearse will bring down the curtain on the Gaelic football season with their own version of the International Rules series.

Top players from Ireland will take on Aussie Rules stars from Down Under over two hybrid matches, in Cavan tomorrow night and at Dublin’s Croke Park seven days later.

Players from Brothers Pearse and Aussie Rules team Huddersfield Rams will come together to watch tomorrow’s match on the big screen at Huddersfield Irish Centre – then stage their own ‘composite’ game at Colne Valley High School on Sunday (2.00).

The Ireland versus Australia match first took place in 1967, and has been staged on an annual basis since 1998. Ireland won last year’s series.

A big weekend for Brothers Pearse starts tonight, when the club hold their annual ‘bacon and cabbage’ presentation night at the Irish Centre.
