JUNIOR angler Kieron Wood had the Low Hills members match at Lindley sewn up within the first five minutes.

On his first cast a carp took the bait and his dad, pegged next to him, was well and truly beaten!

John Fisher took a mixed net for second, while others in the frame were Craig Bainbridge with skimmers and one crucian, while Franek Staniuszko was back in fourth with all small fish.

1 Kieron Wood 9lbs 4ozs; 2 John Fisher 9lbs 3ozs; 3 Craig Bainbridge 4lbs 14ozs, 4 Franek Staniuszko 3lbs 1½ozs.

The club sent a strong contingent of 22 anglers down the M1 for a members’ trip to Aston Ponds where the high pegs fared best.

Keith Henighan won the event, where after catching mostly bream, he switched to worm after 15 minutes which resulted in a nice carp of around 6½lbs coming to the net.

Martin Blagborough had to settle for second, while Bob Haigh fished waggler shallow for third.

Junior John Fisher came a very creditable 10th on his first big match, getting the better of his dad who came 22nd.

1 Keith Henighan 15lbs 4ozs; 2 Martin Blagborough 12lbs 1oz; 3 Bob Haigh 10lbs 5ozs; 4 James Griffiths 9lbs 10ozs.
