ALAN MARRIOTT was Longwood Harriers only winner in the West Yorkshire Athletics League meeting in York.

Marriott won the senior men’s shot putt with a 10.89 metre throw, and he took second place in the javelin with a 35.56m effort.

he then notched a double in the over 50 section of the Northern Veterans track and field event at Cleckheaton winning the shot with 11.81m and the hammer with 37.0m.

In the British Masters Indoor Championships at Enfield, Peter Dibb had to settle for second place in both the 800m (3.12.19) and 1500m (6.39.38) in the men’s over 75 section, and he took third in the 400m (1.21.09) and fifth in the 200m (37.95).

LINDA BREWIS was first home in the women’s over 55 section of the East Hull 20-mile road race, completing the course in 2 hours 40 minutes and 18 seconds.

In the Pennine 10k Brewis was first home again in the women’s over 55 section in 46.18, and was placed 56th overall, while Claire Pickersgill was 58th overall in a time of 46.25.

In the men’s over 60 section Brian Pickersgill was third in 45.46, which gave him 50th position overall.
