A JUNIOR athletics team from Kirklees has been crowned under-11 champions at the Yorkshire and Humberside Sports Hall Athletics Finals.
The Kirklees team beat nine other teams in the region at the finals held in Halifax. Both the boys and the girls finished top to win the overall title.
GIRLS’ TEAM: Lauren Arthur, Emily Shaw, Rosine Neema, Erin McClachlan, Rosy Simpson, Kenya Downey, Sarah Jones, Amira Mellor, Ellie Proctor, Keavey Ward, Emma Stirling, Rebecca Morris, Nina Fox and Heidi Swinhoe.
BOYS’ TEAM: Harry Barnes, Aaron Kettlewell, Alex Hall, Bradley Hall, Josh England, Liam Marriott, Callum Brown, Kamali Russell, Dominic Ellam, Michael Wilton, Nathan Sampson, Jacob Hanson and Max Mallinson.
Two Kirklees athletes came home with gold from the UK event at Birmingham. Gypsy Black won gold in the under-13 boys two-lap sprint while Lauren Powell also won gold in the two-lap sprint for the under-15 girls along with a bronze in the standing long jump final.
