SARAH BOOTH – back from having a baby – helped Brighouse B win the deciding game in a thrilling clash with Spen A.

Playing alongside the experienced Neil Firth, the home duo triumphed over Chris Hampshire and Sue Wiles to seal a 5-4 win in Division II of the Huddersfield Badminton League.

The win takes Brighouse five points clear of Spen with two games in hand and leaves Spen still in the second relegation spot.

It was a tight match throughout, with Brighouse taking two out of three men’s and Spen reversing the stat in the ladies. After two mixed it was all square too, so it came down to the final showdown.

Spen had Jonny Wike and Hampshire playing up – the latter in place of his father, who was away.
