BEAUMONT PARK suffered their first defeat of the season – but still stayed top of the table.

The Huddersfield Badminton League Division VI leaders were beaten 6-3 by Brighouse D – who will take some stopping on this form.

Chris Barton, playing up for Beaumont Park, won all three of his rubbers, including the third Mixed when he partnered his wife Jo, who was playing up from the B team.

The first Men’s was very close between Beaumont Park’s Kevin Pearson and Jim Brown against Brighouse duo David Onions and Michael Silvester.

The first two games both went to setting, while the Brighouse pairing just proved too strong in the third game and eventually managed to get a few points clear to win 21-16.
