A new Triples competition is being played in the Huddersfield Association this season.

It is the brainchild of competition secretary Andrew Wadsworth – now in his seventh year in that position, the longest-serving ever – and should provide some great bowling and excellent watching.

Wadsworth explained: “It's like a pairs but with three on each side, which means there’ll be 12 bowls round the jack every end.

“It should be interesting watching the back men trying to negotiate their way through that lot!”

Four qualifying nights will be September 23, 26 and 30, plus October 3, with the final on October 5.

All the qualifiers and the final will be at Moldgreen Con and the Triples is being sponsored by Fillings Sandwich Bar of Pack Horse Walk, Huddersfield. The proprietor of Fillings is Garry Senior who plays at Moldgreen Con.
