ASHLEY DAYKIN and Duncan Reeves took the honours in the Griffin Bowling Club double-header.

Both secured their second Sixteen wins of the season, Daykin defeating Barry Tinker 21-6 in his final and Reeves overcoming greenkeeper Eddie Haigh 21-10 in his.

Reeves was doubly delighted, having previously also won the Boxing Day and New Year’s Day competition, and he played well throughout.

Tinker surprised everyone in the other competition, especially in the semi-final by beating Peter Kain 21-13, but Daykin soon stamped his authority in the showpiece.

Sponsors of the two events were club president Alan Hirst and member Peter Read and all competitors thanked Haigh for the excellent surface.

THE Sigsworth family are putting up prizemoney of £650 for this year’s Bernard Sigsworth Memorial Trophy at the Griffin.

The first prize is £250 and the first preliminary round gets under way at the Colne Valley venue on Sunday (11.00).
