Bowls: Griffin gearing up for winter competition

THE first Sixteen of the Griffin bowling season is scheduled for Sunday, October 16.

It will be followed on successive Sundays by the Rosebowl preliminaries.

Members who have not already entered the Rosebowl competition should contact secretary Frank Greenwood on 07734 689775 to ensure they are included in the draw, which will take place on Sunday 16.

The final of the West Riding Merit will take place at Cleckheaton Sports (back green) on Sunday (2.00).

Scott Smith from Canalside Sports is running a Junior Open at the Sports Centre this

Saturday, October 8, for just £1 (10am to noon).

It is for junior boys and girls, under 16, interested in playing indoor bowls during the winter months.

It is the final of the Peter Thornton-sponsored Over 15 and Under 21 Huddersfield junior singles merit at Lockwood Con on Sunday (1pm scratch, 1.15 start).

Draw made greenside and players can enter on the day.

The final of the 6-man Veterans Perry’s Competition is at Hemplow today (2.00). Milnsbridge BC meet Lockwood Con.
