JACK DYSON completed a fantastic first season at the Griffin with victory in the Champion of Champions.

The county representative is the first debutant to land the big prize since bowling began at the Griffin in 1968.

He produced some determined and consistent, quality bowling to win and recorded a 21-15 win over Paul Sigsworth in the final.

Before the presentation, club president Alan Hirst congratulated all the players on providing a fitting end to the winter season and praised greenkeeper Eddie Haigh for the excellent surface.

He thanked Leslie and Mark Wood for providing refreshments and paid a special ‘thank you’ to sponsor George Fellows, who confirmed that Slawit & Golcar Cars would sponsor the event again next year.

Mr Fellows then presented the prizes to the last eight, with Dyson saying he was delighted to have been so successful in his first season at the Griffin and he looked forward to 2010/11 for more challenges.
