THERE was huge disappointment for Huddersfield’s county players as Yorkshire lost the Crosfield Cup final against Warwick & Worcester.

Marsh United was the home venue, where Yorkshire were beaten 217-204, while the away side went down 224-202 at Valley BC to complete an overall 241-206 defeat.

Yorkshire were defending the County Championship title they won so magnificently last year, but it was clear from the off that Warwick & Worcester were going to be no pushover.

Only four of the home side – Graeme Wilson, Dave Fisher, John Spinks and Dave Cooper – were able to win, while six of the away team emerged victorious, including Brighouse Sports’ Chris Mordue (the captain) and James Davison of Eccleshill, who plays for Thongsbridge in the Slawit & Golcar Cars Huddersfield League.

The County Juniors will be hoping to go one better when they play their final on Sunday.
