MICHAEL HICK, above, has been picked for England.
The Huddersfield Indoor Bowls Club member has been chosen to represent the Under 25 team in the Home Internationals against Scotland, Ireland and hosts Wales in January next year.
He has been selected to play at No3 in the rink skipped by his Yorkshire colleague, Paul Mosley.
Hick's selection is a great honour both for himself and the club, as this is the first time a Huddersfield club member has been chosen to represent their country.
Hick was travelling reserve when the team were beaten 80-70 by Wales last month, and following that defeat England have re-vamped the team and that has given Hick his big chance.
Meanwhile, the club achieved a great result when they beat Red Rose rivals Blackburn in the national Denny Plate knockout competition.
The Huddersfield side won by 40 points, racking up a total of 99 points with 59 against.
Huddersfield now face Newcastle-based Concordia IBC in the next round to be played in a fortnight.
On Saturday, Huddersfield hope to continue their impressive form in the Yorkshire County League when they take on consistent Thornaby IBC, whose team includes current England Under 25 skip Paul Mosley and England lead Mark O'Riordon.
