BARRY HOLLAND took the honours in the Peter Thornton-sponsored 15-21 (years) bowling competition held at Lockwood Con.

On an excellent green and in glorious sunshine, 22 bowlers took part and there were a couple of notable fightbacks.

Conor McGowan recovered from 20-11 down to beat Daniel Marsland 21-20 while Emily Rhodes was 18-7 down before finally being beaten 21-19 by Holland.

In the semi finals, Craig Walsh had a tough encounter with Adam Booth, winning 21-15, but Holland had a surprisingly easy win against Jack Dyson, winning 21-8.

Walsh and Holland exchanged the jack regularly in the final, with neither player able to dominate until, when leading 15-14, Holland was finally able to run out and win.

Thanks were expressed to the sponsor and to members at Lockwood Con who helped on the day.
