Ravensknowle Park Bowling Club are inviting new members to join and use the facilities.

They are particularly keen to attract additional lady members if possible but would welcome all new players and abilities.

Club secretary Tony Senior said: “Over the last couple of years bowling clubs have been closing through the lack of members coupled with financial difficulties.

“This sadly is a trend that is all too common with an ageing bowling population, and also our club finds itself in the same scenario. We at Ravensknowle Veterans Bowling Club boast two crown greens but, sadly, they do not get used to their full advantage.

“We would be happy for anyone to come on down and try our club.”

Ravensknowle have a Ladies team in the Mixed Six-person League in the Heavy Woollen on Monday afternoons, plus two teams in the Huddersfield and District Veterans Bowling Association – one in Section III and one in Section V.

“There again we need new members, both male and female,” added Mr Senior.

“The present members are all ageing and struggle to cope with their infirmities.

“In particular we are very short of Ladies. We have only a handful and need more.

“People need not be experienced bowlers, they can be a beginner or have never bowled in their life – it does not matter as we have experienced bowlers who will coach them. The club is very sociable and friendly.”

Mr Senior would like to hear from anyone interested and can be contacted on 01484 302316.
