Huddersfield Junior Bowling Association hold the Glenis Firth-sponsored Peter Firth Memorial Under 16 Boys and Girls Handicap on Sunday.

It’s a 10am start at Kirkheaton Cricket and Bowling Club, but it’s 9.45am scratching and a 9.50am draw greenside.

Meanwhile, it’s the last set of Junior Inter-District matches on Saturday, when all four teams are in action.

Huddersfield A take on Bradford A at Crosland Moor, while Huddersfield B play undefeated Castleford A at Almondbury Bowling Club.

Huddersfield C tackle West Riding/Heavy Woollen B at Meltham CBC while Huddersfield D are away at Skipton/Worth Valley.

Brockholes BC stage their Mixed Pairs Open on Sunday (9.30).

Who is the best junior bowler in Almondbury? Well, the answer will be provided tomorrow.

It’s the Bas Falck Memorial Cup Competition, sponsored by Mrs Margaret Falck, and will be staged at Almondbury BC (6.00 start, 5.50 scratching).

It’s the event featuring Almondbury village junior bowlers and annually proves very popular.

The final qualifiers in the Grosvenors Butchers sponsored Hill Crest Open Pairs are Simon Coupe & Owen Jackson who beat K Nicholas & M Riley 21-13.

The final will take place Saturday at 6.30pm with the draw to be made greenside. There are two former winners in the field, one being Robert Hitchen (who won with Stuart Mort but now partners Yorkshire star Jack Dyson). Sheffield’s Mick Hobson won the competition with elder brother Mel and now teams up with Andy Whittaker. Owen Jackson partners the current Classic champion Simon Coupe. Others in the final include Gareth Coates and Les Holmes, Phil Dowgill and Andy Tate, Richard Hopley and Jason Barker, Phil Davies and Kevin Wainwright and Kevin Trubey and Neil Coupe.

Hazel Lunn and Neil Jones woin the Paddock Con Floodlight competition for the second year running. They beat Y and P Sykes 21-18 in the final.

Quarter-finals: P Ingleby & C Cross 21 B & P Toon 20, H Lunn & N Jones 21 S Gibson & R Taylor 11, K & J Gant 20 S Dyson & L Fallas 21, Y & P Sykes 21 J Roper & S Mallinson 12.

Semi-finals: Ingleby & Cross 14 Lunn & Jones 21, Dyson & Fallas 18 Y & P Sykes 21.
