It's getting very tight and exciting at the top of the Slawit & Golcar Cars Huddersfield League.
Thongsbridge lost their first match to in-form Lockwood Con 9-7 this week and now hold only a four-point advantage in the Subscription Cup table.
The Holme Valley side do have a game in hand but they have, on paper, some hard matches remaining before the end of the season.
Lockwood Con produced some of their best bowling in the eagerly-anticipated match against Thongsbridge.
Jason McMahon crushed South Yorkshire bowler Mark Farmer 21-3 and Paul Ingleby left little option for Andy Farmer other than to continually strike with Ingleby eventually winning 21-17.
Then Mick Cox dispatched another county player by beating Andy Cairns 21-13, setting up an aggregate win for Lockwood by 19 points.
Thongsbridge have a tough match this Saturday against Lower Hopton while Lockwood Con play Longwood and hope to close the gap.
The quarterly meeting of the Huddersfield & District Bowling Association is on Monday at Paddock I&C (8pm start). Clubs are reminded that a £5 fine is imposed for non-attendance.
It is preceded by an Executive Meeting (7.30).
