DELEGATES were subdued at the annual meeting of the Huddersfield Veterans Bowling Association after it was reported that auditor Neil Humphreys had died during the weekend.

Secretary Tommy Dunford paid tribute and said he was, ‘a good frIend who would be sorely missed.’

Mr Humphreys had been treasurer for seven years and auditor for the past two years.

Stepping on to the committee were Dougie Mellor, Alan Stephenson and Derek Bruce while members welcomed Jim Sharland as president.

Retiring president John Wilde received a life membership and president-elect was Frank Greenwood, of Golcar Liberal Club.

Tommy Dunford (secretary), Dougie Barratt (treasurer) and Bill Blackburn (comp sec) announced that this season will be their last in the posts and anyone wishing to fill these positions should contact the officials with phone numbers listed in the new yearly handbooks.

The entry fee for the Rosebowl competition was increased to £1.50 and the season will get under way on April 8.
