The men’s Waterloo autumn bowling tournament played at the ‘Wembley’ of crown green bowling, is back on at The Waterloo Hotel in Blackpool which is now open after refurbishment.

The new owners of the hotel closed it in April for a £500,000 refurbishment and bowlers thought the competition would not be bowled this year.

However, the event begins on Monday, July 22, and play starts at 1.00pm, with qualifying lasting four weeks with the last 64 bowlers returning on Saturday, September 14.

Further rounds take place on the following Monday and Tuesday with the final eight competing on Wednesday, September 18.

They are 100 bowlers short of the 512 entries. They have vacancies throughout the competition, but mainly in the first week.

Entry fee is £10 with £15,000 prize money.

Players have to win only two games to be on £25. The Waterloo welcomes any male bowler who wishes to enter. They should contact Rick for available dates on 07855 259228.

The final of the ladies competition is on Sunday, September 15 (already played and qualified).
