Waverely lead the way in the Veterans Indoor Bowls at Huddersfield Sports Centre

THE Huddersfield Indoor Bowls League season is turning out to be a thriller.

THE Huddersfield Indoor Bowls League season is turning out to be a thriller.

Clubs are two months into the campaign and it’s tight at the top of all the competitions.

Matches are held at Huddersfield Sports Centre throughout each week and it’s very busy with several sections.

In the Veteran Men’s, after a third of games, Waverely are being chased by old foes the Matadors.

These two have fought out the championship for a number of years and Matadors have usually prevailed.

Jackdaws and Rooks are well placed in third and fourth, so anything could happen over the next couple of months.

In the Ladies Vets, Meltdown are the current leaders but Triers and the Foxy Ladies are close behind and sure to have a say in the final outcome.

Wombles and Torredors are equal at the top of the Mixed Vets, but Mix and Match are hot on their heels. A close finish is anticipated and December fixtures could be crucial.

Archers have shot their way to the top of the Men’s Super League, but it’s a very close affair with Hot Cross Buns, Bandits and Nomads not far off the pace.

Surprises are happening every week in this section, so no real favourites have come to the fore.

Hansons and Unbiased are leading the way and favourites in the Men’s Evening League, but there is still a long way to go.

Bastermarand have jumped into an early lead in the Mixed Evening League but they are being chased by 4H’S.

Springwood and 20 Something are struggling at the moment but will hope to improve.
