Yorkshire Ladies had a disappointing result in their second game for the County Championship title when they were beaten by just 18 points by last year’s losing finalists North Warwickshire.

The home team had a good result at Linthwaite Hall, winning 224 to 178, and including two new players – Carron McGrath (Linthwaite Hall) and Chloe Ghaffer (Meltham), who both won their games.

The away team were faced with a very tricky green at Bedworth, Nuneaton, losing 173 to 237.

There were some excellent performances with Linda Gledhill (New Mill) starting a chain of six winners by a great 21-9 win and Karen Gant (Meltham) playing at No12 for the first time, ending a final three winners with a great 21-14 win.

In the away team, Alexis Lunn-Gadd (Cowcliffe Lib) had a good win of 21-15 to start the game, followed by 21-18 wins for new girl Rachel Quirk (Crossgates), Amanda Hagen (Ossett Flying Horse) and Laura Middleton (New Mill).

Yorkshire Juniors won the British Crown Green Ladies Junior Team Championship on Saturday when they beat Shropshire 74 -61 at The Grange, Warrington.

Four teams from Yorkshire took part in the event, the remaining three all performing well and winning three of their six games.

The winning team – Yorkshire Alan – had performed strongly throughout the day winning all six games in their round robin heat and ending the day with the Championship title.

The final game scores were: Yorkshire Alan 74, Shropshire Alan 61: Fern Beaumont (Broad Oak) 10 Josh Cotton 15; Chloe Hirst (Halifax) 6 Natalie Connor 15; Kieran Bannister (Heptonstall) 15 Phil Jones 5; Robbie Ellis (Skipton Craven) 15 Hayden Lewis 5; Danny Teale (Kirkheaton Con) 15 Jodie Rutter 6; Joe Cranston (Crossgates) 13 Aaron Kins 15.
