JUNIOR brother and sister Piers and Hannah Boden proved to be the key to Kirklees Independent’s 6-3 win over Royds Hall D in the Huddersfield Badminton League.

JUNIOR brother and sister Piers and Hannah Boden proved to be the key to Kirklees Independent’s 6-3 win over Royds Hall D in the Huddersfield Badminton League.

Despite being unwell, Piers played men’s games with Frazer Smith and Phil Thompson against Hall’s Richard Firth, Russell Dyson and Phil Arrowsmith.

Partnering Smith, they took the game against Firth and Dyson 21-14,21-13.

His second with Thompson was role reversal with Royd’s Firth and Arrowsmith taking the game 21-14, 21-13.

Hannah, who is the youngest player in the league at just 12, partnered Cheryl Hallsworth to a 22-20, 21-15 triumph over Carol Holberry and Jean Gledhill.

Then with Nikki Thompson against Holberry and Catherine Davies 14-21, 21-19,21-17.

Then to show the adults how it’s done, she partnered her brother Piers to take the mixed against Firth and Holberry 22-20, 21-4, 21-10.

The other family pairing, Phil and Nikki Thompson, proved another unbeatable duo taking their mixed against Arrowsmith and Davies 21-19,15-21,21-11.
