ClaytonWest siblings Izzy and Adam Carpenter have new world rankings after taking part in the World Youth Archery Championships in Yankton, USA.

Izzy moved up to ninth in the World Individual rankings.

In the team event the GB girls, where Carpenter competed alongside Lucy Mason and Rebecca Lennon, finished in a very credible fourth place, while Izzy finished in 17th place individually in the qualification.

She won her first match against Jose Maria Zebadua, from Guatemala, and this then placed her against Fatimah Almashhadani, a 17-year-old from Iraq, in the head-to-head matches.

Almashhadani was ranked No1 going into the event and eventually won the gold medal, but only narrowly managed to beat Izzy.

Adam also stepped up moving into 17th place in the world rankings.

The 12-year-old finished in 26th place individually in the qualification after going up against seventh seed Jacobus Brink, from South Africa, but could not overcome him.

In the team event the GB cadet boys beat Australia in the quarter-finals to go into a semi-final with Turkey – the No1 seeds and heavily tipped to be the gold medal winners.

However, Great Britain beat them with Adam shooting the last arrow for a maximum 10 point which secured a win by two points.

This put the team of Adam, James Howse and Luke Rails into a televised gold medal match against hosts USA, where they could not overcome the home nation and finished in second earning the team silver medal.
