WHILE Thongsbridge and Batley remain unbeaten in the Men’s top flight, there are some cracking promotion battles taking place in the Huddersfield Table Tennis League.

Cleckheaton A have a 7/7 record in Division II, as do Mirfield A in Division 3.

In Division IV only three points seperate the top three of Holmfirth A, Longley A and Marsden B.

In Mens Division V, the top four teams – Linthwaite Methodist A, Longley B, Cleckheaton B and Denby Dale B – are seperated by a single point and in Division VI, Gregory Fields C and Thornhill B are joint top.

Ladies Division I is once again led by the champions of the last two years, Huddersfield A, who remain unbeaten.

Thongsbridge Ladies B, D and F teams lead the way in Divisions II, III and V respectively and things at the top of Ladies Division IV remain very close, with five teams still in with a realistic chance of promotion.

Meanwhile, Holmfirth Parish Church Tennis Club at Berry Banks will be serving up stawberries and cream on Sunday at their Open Day (2pm to 4.30pm).

The event was washed out in April but now goes ahead with everyone welcome and the traditional Wimbledon fare available at £3 a go.

The club still have places available in their four teams playing in Ladies divisions I and III and in the Men’s IV and V.
