HUDDERSFIELD Star Wheeler Mark Thaxter produced some great time-trial riding with a win in the Wills Wheels 2-up and a club record time in the Yorkshire Cycling Federation 50-mile event.

Thaxter teamed up with clubmate Tom Broadbent for the 25-mile Wills in Cheshire and despite it being their first 2-up event they worked well together and clocked 53 minutes, winning by over 90 seconds.

The YCF event was held at Thirsk, and the club record before the event was held by John Lancaster and stood at 1hr 50min 44sec, set back in 1976.

Thaxter set off at a ferocious pace and, although he struggled over the last 10 miles, he finished in a time of 1-47.09 to take sixth place.
