HUDDERSFIELD Eagles Ladies continued their great start to the season with a second victory.

They beat Kirklees Independent Badminton 4-2 in the opening game and followed up with an identical victory against Phoenix at Huddersfield Sports Centre.

All the games were close, with some excellent rallies and positional play.

The Eagles took the first two matches with Amy Crowther and Caitlin Shaw beating Carol Muir and Tracey Singleton in a thrilling three-game match, before Crowther and Jessica Hall took the next in two beating Julie Scott and Bethany Wedge.

The remaining matches were split evenly with both teams winning two.

Eagles coach Mike Hall commented “We’ve had another good performance from our team against some very experienced players.

“It’s great to see the players playing with confidence and working hard to get the result.

“We've got some good reguler players like Amy, Emily and Jess who are helping to bring our less experienced players along. Caitlin is a great example of this, as this is only her second season of playing.”

The Huddersfield Eagles Junior Badminton Club train at Newsome Sports College on Sunday mornings.

They have over 30 players of different ages and abilities coached by three Badminton of England coaches.
