Former Holme Valley Wheelers rider Ed Clancy, a specialist in team pursuit in which he is the reigning Olympic and European champion, has been included in the Great Britain squad for the Track World Championships in Paris later this month.

Clancy, who In the London 2012 Olympics, he also participated in the Omnium claiming a bronze medal, has been selected in the Men’s endurance team.

In total Clancy is a four-time world champion (in 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2012) and twice European champion (in 2010 and 2011) in team pursuit, he has also won World (2010) and European (2011) titles at Omnium and on the road, he won the first stage of the 2005 Tour of Berlin.

He will be joined by Steven Burke has recovered from a broken collarbone to be selected for the team.

The Olympic champion has made a swift recovery following surgery after a training accident in early January, and returns for the competition to be held February 18 to 22.
