Top cycling talent Gabz Cullaigh has decided he will be heading to the continent to continue his development next season.

The 20-years-old from New Mill has spent the last two with British Cycling Academy, but is to join the SEG Racing Academy development program for the 2017 season.

The European academy has training bases at Eindhoven, Girona and Loutraki, but he will be based at the SEG centre at Girona in Spain.

Habing started out with Holme Valley Wheelers, in 2012 Cullaigh was accepted onto the Great Britain Talent Team programme and he has since graduated through the Olympic Development Programme and onto the Olympic Academy programme for which he was accepted onto in 2014.

Cullaigh was part of a young Great Britain Cycling Team selected for the 2015 Aviva Tour of Britain, finishing 61st, before being part of the under-23 men’s team at the UCI Road World Championships in Richmond, USA.

“Iam really happy to announce that I’ll be joining SEG Racing Acadeny for 2017 – I’m excited already,” said Cullaigh.

“I owe a huge thank you to British Cycling for the past two years of continued support and opportunity.”
