Rob Hall, the current English Amateur Billiards champion and runner-up to Pankaj Advani in the world final in October 2014, was on hand to help raise funds for Kirkwood Hospice.

At a charity event held at New Mill club, Hall played three 45-minute billiard matches and three frames of snooker.

Hall’s billiards opponents were Mathew Peaker, Brian Cousen and Tony Clegg, while his snooker opponents were John Lee, Robert Read and Robert Armitage.

The event raised £1,000 for Kirkwood Hospice and was supported by Boultons Estate Agents and Simon Blyth Estate Agents.

Crosland Moor Con A pipped Marsh United BC to the section one championship in the Huddersfield Veterans Snooker League.

Both teams finished level on 35 points, but thanks to Crosland’s greater number of 3-0 victories throughout the season they claimed the title.

Canalside B ran out worthy champions in section two and Marsh United BC B claimed the section three crown over Primrose Hill Liberals.

In the Open Snooker matches, Ryan Bodsworth of Lockwood Con A claimed the week’s highest break with 48 in his defeat to Chris Mann of Canalside B in a match drawn 2-2.

Almondbury Con A player, Sam James, and Netherton Con B player Lee Moseley both scored impressive breaks of 41.

Milnsbridge Liberals’ Martin Wood notched up a 38 break with Robert Read also performing well for Lindley WMC A, scoring 37 and 25 breaks.

Rob Armitage played consistently for Marsh Lib B, scoring breaks of 36 and 30 and Hayden Corbett of Lindley WMC A scored well with 35 and 32 breaks.

Dave Crosbie of Marsden Social earned a 31 break, with Omar Saeed of Canalside C notching up 30. Noel Byrne of Marsh United B and Dennis Lomax of New Mill A scored 27 and 25 respectively to complete the week’s highest breaks.

In the Billiards, Matthew Peaker was once again a standout performer notching up two high breaks of 47 and 60 for Brockholes BC in their 3-0 win over Upper Hopton B.

Armitage also scored well with a 56 break for Marsh Lib A and David Peaker scored a break of 50 for Brockholes BC.

Tim Whitehouse made 37 for Springwood BC, with Jack Dyson notching up a break in the 30’s with 32 for Meltham Liberals.

Lomax of New Mill B and Paul Rayner of Marsh Lib B both made 25 to round off the highest breaks.
