Euan Wilson-Baig is the Sellers International 14 and Under champion.

The Elland-based player trains at Huddersfield Lawn Tennis and Squash Club and succeeded on his home courts when defeating defending champion Paul Jubb of Hull, 7-6 6-2.

The first set was very close as rallies were long and tight, but Wilson-Baig prevailed, taking the tie-break 7-5.

He then won convincingly in the second set – the match was watched by Edgerton club president Mary Durrans – to consolidate his position as Yorkshire No1 and national No14 in the age group.

Wilson-Baig is the current county champion, too, and hopes to defend that title next month.

Coincidentally, his coach – Ellis Ward – won the same age section at the Sellers back in 2006.

The 14 and Under Girls final was won by Megan Hopton of Swanland, who defeated Gabriella Grosvenor (Sheffield) 6-0 6-1.

All four top seeds are through in the 18s, while Thongsbridge’s Andrew Atkinson knocked out No5 seed Jac Neviss 6-1 7-5.

In the Girls section, Huddersfield’s Katie Morton beat Alice Scott of North Wales 6-0 6-2 to set up a semi-final against Halifax’s Lydia Burrows, who beat Anna Van Der Stap to love and two.

Emily Morton lost to the No3 see Abbie-Jade Riley of Shrewsbury 6-1 6-2. Riley now plays Laurie Clark of Holcombe Brook because No2 seed Sophie Dodds had to pull out because of a bee sting.

The top four seeds in the Ladies, meanwhile are all through – Natalie Wall (Holcombe Brook), Isobelle Hearnshaw (Leeds), Kim Atkinson (Thongsbridge) and Emily Morton, who after a slow start beat Emma Foster 7-5 6-3.

Thursday night features the Men’s Singles with Mike Tolman (Huddersfield), Ellis Walker (Huddersfield), Andrew Atkinson (Thongsbridge) and Will Foote (Huddersfield) all involved.
