THE search will soon be on for this year’s up-and-coming young golfer when the John Letters Academy launch the 2012 Golf Factor.

One young winner who has not looked back is George Brady, who entered the Golf Factor as a 25 handicapper at Longley Park.

He only entered because several of his fellow juniors were doing so, and he came through the ‘boot camp’ with Chris Hanson, which tested his skills in bunker play, chipping, pitching and putting to reach the regional final at Crosland Heath.

Brady came out on top of several talented junior golfers from across Yorkshire, to win a year’s worth one-to-one coaching with local professional Tom Denby, a new bag of equipment courtesy of Direct Golf UK, as well as trips to Wentworth and the Open.

Winning Golf Factor persuaded Brady his future lay in the golf industry and he went on to secure a place at Myerscough College (the same as Hanson) while dropping his handicap to 10. He has since worked on a European Tour event as part of his studies and his play continues to go from strength to strength.

Heats of this year’s Golf Factor are being held at the Stadium Driving Range on June 16 and 17, and entries can be made by going to www.johnletters.com/golf_factor or emailing jamesbeattie@johnletters.com
