JOHN COCKING of Marsden won the Wednesday Society meeting at Longley Park, which attracted 34 entries.

The former Halifax-Huddersfield Union president picked up 34 points off his handicap of 11 to pip Alan Taylor of Crosland Heath (11) by a point.

Keith Bruce (Marsden, 20) won Division II with 38 points on a back nine countback from clubmate Alan Harper (19), who also had 38.

Taylor won the nearest the pin prize from Ian Sharland.

Cocking (11, 35) had been beaten by Meltham’s David Law (7, 37) in the previous meeting at Woodsome Hall.

The Division II winner was Crosland Heath’s David Wood (16, 38) from John Sheard (Bradley Park, 18, 34) and David Crowther (Outlane, 22, 34).

The next meeting is at Bradley Park on Wednesday.
