HALIFAX and Longley Park won through North qualifying in the Yorkshire Team championship at Tankersley Park to earn places in the Division Seven event at Teesside next Wednesday.
Mark Birkett shot 69, the second best score of the day, to lead Halifax to second place behind host club Tankersley Park with Longley Park claiming the fourth of six qualifying spots. Bradley Hall missed out in a card play-off while Elland and Crow Nest Park were also non qualifiers.

Moving onto the championship from the north qualifying round at Sandburn Hall are: York, Headingley, Rudding Park, Scarcroft, Ganstead Park, Wilton.
Woodsome Hall two handicapper Tom Goodair is the lone local player entered in the Aucherlone Spoon, the first Eagle Golf-Yorkshire Order of Merit event of the season at Selby tomorrow.
He hit top form recently in a qualifier for the Hanging Heaton Cup – he is also a member there – with a round of 64 that would have counted as a course record but for preferred lies being in operation.
The event doubled with the Ford Amateur which he also won.
