HUDDERSFIELD golfer Megan Lockett and her partner Holly Morgan, from Lees Hall, were just edged out in the final of the Northern Ladies’ Foursomes at Pontefract and District.

Lockett and Morgan went down 2 and 1 to Manchester’s Elaine Clark who won the event for the second year in a row, this time with partner and club colleague Jennifer Fallows.

Helen Searle, from the West End club, reached the semi-finals with Charlotte Austwick from Pike Hills before bowing out.

Kath Hetherington and Sheila Stubbs from host club Pontefract won the Stableford event, and were also members of the winning team in the Four-team event, along with Christine Davison and Julie Ludwell.

Home advantage will count for little today for YE Yang as the PGA Championship winner looks to follow up his victory at the Volvo China Open at the Ballantine’s Championship on his home island of Jeju.

The 38-year-old Korean missed his sister’s wedding on Jeju last week as he posted a two-shot victory just outside Shanghai to record his first win since overhauling Tiger Woods at Hazeltine last August.
