BRADLEY PARK head professional Parnell Reilly stepped down last week from his two-year stint as captain of the PGA at the annual meeting at The Belfry

He was succeeded by Jim Farmer, the honorary pro at St Andrews, whose first official duty was at the Masters.

Farmer, 60, is a past PGA Club Professional champion and PGA Cup international.

He captained GB&I to success against America at The K Club in 2005 to end a run of 21 years without a win.

Former Roundhay, Leeds, assistant Eddie Bullock, Bridlington born and now attached to Sussex’s West Cowdray Park, is PGA captain-elect.

David Law won the latest Huddersfield Wednesday Golf Society meeting at Outlane.

The 11-handicapper from Meltham stormed to a 36-point tally to finish three clear of the new Wednesday Society captain, Crosland Heath’s Alan Taylor, and immediate past captain and Meltham clubmate Chris Holmes.

Bradley Park’s John Sheard won the Division II first prize, also with 36 points, from the host club’s Alan Arrowsmith with 36.

The Outlane event attracted an entry of 25 players.

Ian Sharland was installed as the new president at the recent annual meeting of the Wednesday Society, who hold their next competition on Wednesday at Meltham.
