WOODSOME HALL have moved into the Yorkshire Union’s Second Division after sealing promotion in the Third Division Team Championships, held at the North Cliff Club in Scarborough.

The Fenay Bridge club team, comprising Chris Dyson, Tom Goodair, Adam Cryer, Rob Scollick and team captain John Hirst, finished fifth out of the 18-strong entry, behind winners Bedale to move into the Second Division Championship, which will be staged at Sheefield’s Renishaw club on Wednesday, August 3.

It was an excellent performance from the Woodsome side, who were only recently promoted from the fourth division.

The top six teams (Bedale, Bingley St Ives, Wath, Ilkley, Woodsome Hall and Malton & Norton), all went through to the Second Division, while the bottom six (including Halifax) dropped down a division.

Individual scores were Cryer 76, 73; Goodair 74, 70; Scollick 72, 73 and Dyson 73, 77 for a comb ined total of 588, just one more than Ilkley, with winners Bedale on 575.
