TWO dozen low handicappers competed for the Everitt Cup at the annual Crow Nest Scratch Open last weekend.

The weather delivered its best, with brilliant sunshine throughout, and the true, fast greens were appreciated by the class field.

The fact that the scoring was relatively high reflected the tough pin positions on several of the key holes.

Overall winner was Huddersfield’s Richard Broadley, who won on a countback with a gross score of 74. He beat Bradley Hall`s Andy Shaw into second place.

Home player Chris Wood took the best nett with a 69, playing off a handicap of 11. Crow Nest Park’s head greenkeeper Rob Gee won the nearest the pin, and visitor Tom Williams hit the longest drive on the 18th. Club captain Shaun Higgins presented the prizes.

Crosland Heath qualified in sixth position at Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs 4th Division Team Championship played at Dore & Totley on Wednesday.

The team was Jonathan Fleetwood (72+76-148), Luke Pilkington (82+79-161) and Toby Garrett (84+79-163).
