CROSLAND Heath’s new professional is Richard Lambert, who has built himself a reputation as a leading coach in the PGA Midlands Region.

The coaching CV of the teaching professional and head assistant at Lincoln Golf Club, who have 700 members, swayed Crosland Heath to make him their choice from an impressive list of 40 applications.

He succeeds John Eyre, who took up duties at Woodsome Hall today, and will be in situ at the Heath at the end of the month.

Lambert – he says he is “nicely past being young, having just gone 30” – hails from Scunthorpe, the birthplace of Tony Jacklin, and has spent all his golf career in Lincolnshire.

Teaching is his first love in golf and through that he has earned himself a solid reputation.

Lambert said: “There are excellent teaching facilities at Crosland Heath which are to be extended by the setting up of an indoor teaching area to allow all-year round coaching.

“I’m chomping at the bit, eager to get started and to fit out and stock the shop, which will have a wide selection of equipment at competitive prices, plus a custom fitting service.”

Lambert, wife Laura and son Jacob (13 months) will relocate to Huddersfield, where they have family, and he will be introduced to club members at the annual meeting on March 29, when new captain Raymond Owen takes office.
