A Memorial Golf Day is being held for Danny Jones at Halifax Golf Club (Ogden) this coming Bank Holiday Monday.

There is no competition, but the club are charging just £10 for people to go and play the course and all proceeds will go to the fund for Danny’s family.

The 29-year-old Keighley rugby league star, of course, collapsed and died while representing the club in their Championship One fixture at London Skolars on May 3.

He leaves a wife, Lizzie, and five-month-old twins Bobby and Phoebe.

Halifax club professional Nick Krzywicki said: “Danny and the family held their Christening celebration for the twins here at the club just a few weeks ago, so we feel quite close to them.

“His brother, Gaz, is also a member here so we want to do what we can for Danny’s family.

“We’ve already held a competition for the fund and done something through the members, but this is a chance for anyone to come up – people from the rugby league fraternity, golfers, anyone at all – to come up and enjoy the course and the club and make a contribution to the fund.”
