Sue Johnson was given a standing ovation at Fixby golf club’s version of the Oscars.

The first-ever joint President of England Golf won the lifetime Achievement Award at “The Fixby’s,” which recognised the major achievements of the club’s season.

Sue has shown a lifetime of dedication to golf at both club, county and national level.

She was the first Lady President of the club last year and has also been Lady Captain.

At county level she has played for Yorkshire Ladies second team and has been Captain, President and Honorary Life President of Yorkshire Ladies Golf Association.

More than 150 members attended the evening, hosted by the club’s recently-appointed commercial manager, Charles Webb.

Megan Lockett won Best Individual Performance of the year.

The homegrown Huddersfield player had the best gross score at the club last season and represented Wales in both the Girls’ and Ladies’ home international matches.

Megan also progressed to the last 16 of the British Girls Championship.

Team of the year went to the Seniors, captained by Eric Lord after they won the Horrocks Taylor Team Trophy played for Halifax and Huddersfield Alliance clubs.

The team has won this trophy every year since its inception more than 10 years ago. In addition, they retained the Lawrence Batley Seniors Trophy, beating off competition from 31 other teams.

To win they had to finish top after 14 divisional matches, then play a semi-final and final – beating Hanging Heaton in the final 5-3 to take the title.

Huddersfield also hosted a highly successful quiz night.

Members and friends enjoyed the evening which was organised by Mary Green, wife of captain-elect Paul Green.

Quizmaster and rabbits captain Stephen Lum kept the contestants in order and the winners were the Clampetts and the Hirsts, second place were the Johnstones and Browns, with the Traceys and Armsteds in third.
