THE Yorkshire Amateur Championship returns to Fixby the week of July 1.

Having last staged the event in 2006, Huddersfield – home of the Yorkshire Union – once again hosts the county’s premier event.

The week will see Yorkshire’s best male golfers compete for the prestigious 2013 County Amateur Champion title.

The timetable is: Monday, July 1 - practice day, Tuesday 2 and Wednesday 3 - strokeplay, with the top 32 qualifying for the matchplay stage. Thursday 4 to Saturday 6 - match play, culminating in a 36-hole final on Saturday.

Fixby are asking members to volunteer as ball spotters and car park attendants from the Monday to Wednesday.

Their efforts will be rewarded with complimentary sandwiches and refreshments.
