Kaye leads way

ATHLETICS Five Kirklees athletes were among West Yorkshire teams which won English Schools’ titles at Sefton Park, Liverpool.In the victorious Junior Boys team were Max Kaye of Holmfirth High (12th), Honley’s Sam Crowe (33rd) and Thomas Halton of Kirkburton Middle (219th).The Senior Boys team also took certificates for first place with Jack Hallas (Westborough High) in 39th and Edward Mason (Whitcliffe Mount) 118th.The Junior Girls team which finished 19th included Sally Smith of Whitcliffe Mount (78th) and Rowena France of Holmfirth High (190th), while the Intermediate Girls finished ninth with Shelley High’s Beth Pettit (138th) and Amy McGivern (198th) in their ranks along with Salendine Nook’s Naomi Wareham (338th).In the Senior Girls team which finished 21st were Chloe Patchett of Heckmondwike Grammar (48th), Sarah Simmons of Honley High (120th) and Becky Rowlands of Castle Hall, Mirfield (212th).

RUGBY LEAGUE All Saints Catholic College Year 11 girls’ team are not in action at Headingley tonight. Their National Champions Schools Final against Cardinal Newman College is now on Wednesday, April 9 at a venue to be announced.
