HOLME VALLEY Wheeler Lee Brown delivered yet another sterling performance In the Seacroft Wheelers Easter Road Race.

The meeting in Selby was a 38km third and fourth category race and Brown gained a creditable sixth place finish.

He was in the chase group for most of the race after Jonathan Wolff (Sheffrec CC), Paul Allen (Dinnington RC) and Tony Grassby (Peak RC) broke away from the main peloton after the second lap. In the final sprint he managed to get clear of the bunch to finish strongly.

In the same meeting Ivan Boyes (Team Cystic Fibrosis and HSW) rode in the 59km 2/3/4 cat race.

In a brilliant performance he narrowly missed out on getting in the winning break in the penultimate lap, then finished in the bunch sprint.

Ivan’s brother Will (Team Cystic Fibrosis) is currently cycling the Land’s End to John O’Groats (LEJOG) in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

The traditional route is 874 miles long and Will intends to complete it in just 10 days – an average of 87 miles per day.

Ivan joined him on the fourth day of the ride for 95 miles from Ludlow to Altrincham and said: “Will is in good form but the persistent North Easterly winds are making it slow going.

I’m really proud of him – it’s a massive ride.”
