Holmfirth cycle rider Amira Mellor has decided to dedicate her future to Cyclo- Cross.

The former Holme Valley Wheeler produced a promising 28th place finish in the elite women’s race in the recent UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships held at Tabor in the Czech Republic.

The 17-year-old has made the decision the latter earning selection on the back of a breakthrough season which saw the teenager win the British Cycling National Trophy Cyclo-cross elite women’s title and become junior British champion.

However, after taking a break, Mellor is looking to ride a few road races and some events in the National Mountain Bike series in preparation for the Cyclo- Cross season.

The first two World Cup series are not until September but will take Mellor to Las Vegas and then Montreal.

In November the Under 23 European Championships take place with the ultimate aim to be back in the Great Britain team for the 2016 World Championships in Belgium.

In preparation Mellor is set to spend some time training in Belgium.

Her team has a new sponsor and Mellor will now ride for the Oldfield Paul Milnes ERT (elite race team) – with new kit in the pipe line.
