ALISTAIR WARREN is back on boxing’s title trail – and trainer Chris Aston is backing the super-middleweight for success at the third attempt.

Huddersfield’s Warren, better known as Burt, will face Mexborough’s Stuart Brookes in a 10-rounder on an action-packed show at Doncaster Dome on Friday, April 19.

Promoters have pledged to put a belt up for grabs, with the gold masters a possibility, and Warren is desperate to follow in the footsteps of stablemate Tyrone Nurse.

Nurse recently claimed the Central area light-welterweight crown and is now eyeing a possible British title challenge.

Warren, 25, has previously fought for the WBC world youth and Central titles, and trainer Aston believes that experience could prove crucial.

His man has a 8-4-1 record, and Aston explained: “Not one of those defeats has been comprehensive.

“Burt has given a good account of himself in all his fights, and after a number of 50:50’s, it’s time he got that break.”

Former masters middleweight champion Brookes, 30, has reignited his career after a three year break.

The Doncaster show will also feature Aston-trained pair Scott Gladwin, from Halifax, and Ismail Anwar, from Huddersfield.

Gladwin takes on home hope Connor Nixon for the Central super-flyweight title while Anwar aims for a third win in four fights against Darfield’s Robbie Barrett in a six-round lightweight clash.
