Huddersfield Dragons Ladies first team lost their top of the table status following a 4-2 defeat against Ben Rhydding seconds.

The Dragons second defeat of the term saw them surrender the lead in the North League’s Division II South East to their rivals from Ilkley.

The Dragons made a poor start to the first half, and struggled to track the runs Ben Rhydding were making.

The visitors took advantage and scored two goals with tap-ins after getting round keeper Ash Creedon.

Boosted by their early lead Ben Rhydding piled on the pressure and they succeeded in scoring another two goals.

The Dragons did manage to get on the attack before half-time and won some penalty corners, but only converted one with a shot from Liz Pryde-Fillingham.

In the second period the Dragons had all of the possession and won many short corners, but were unsuccessful in turning them into goals.

There was some great attacking play, especially from player-of-the-match Hester Longstaff, but their only other goal came when Rebecca Durrans dribbled into the ‘D’ and powered the ball into the goal making the score 4-2.

Creedon in the Dragons goal didn’t touch the ball in the second half, but for all their improvement Huddersfield paid the price for their first half failings.
