HUDDERSFIELD Heat ravaged Middlesbrough Lions 101-61 as they continued their winning streak on their way to the English Basketball League Division III play-offs.

Head coach and club director Eduardo Perez is already planning for next season, with the search for club partners and new sponsors already on.

“The club is now at that transition period between amateur and professional and many of the things we have done this year fall into the latter category,” said Perez.

“We have to make moves to retain our current squad, and realistically look to bring in around six new players in preparation for the higher level of competition.

“Our operational budget now is quite substantial and for next year it will be even greater.

“Our long-term plans are still very much on target and we will be able to announce them shortly.”

On court, it was very much business as usual as Heat brushed aside their North-East rivals in a one-sided affair.

The home team made a bright start, jumping into a 6-3 lead, but Heat then came alive and went on a run to end the quarter 30-6 ahead with Mark Rangeley scoring 12 of his game-high 30.

The second quarter was even more emphatic, centre Javier Perez De Los Reyes netting regularly.

Heat face a weekend double-header to end their campaign, hosting Shropshire Warriors on Saturday (5.30) and Birmingham A’s on Sunday (1.00).
